The Little White Paper by Ronita Maitra Bhandari

Share.

As kids, I am sure we have all had our thrills by making paper boats on the days when it rained incessant. Small and big puddles of water waited for our paper boats and we never disappointed them.

The little white paper
Knew not about its fate
Droplets of water poured
Softening every pore
The weary soul
Aspired to reach out
To that little droplet
Hold hands in wet delight
Plant kisses
Clutch tight
Breathing,
Awakening
Dancing
Did it matter?

 If written words engraved
Would have been washed away
In that monsoon
Did it care?
It lived for a day without
Being scratched by that mighty pen
Just enjoying
In amorous delight
 With that little droplet.
losing its own character
crumbling,breaking into pieces
yet loving every bit of its shattered entity.
