\"TomsonI had a dream. The dream was to become a Management Consultant. However, during my B School placements, I crumbled under pressure and I did not manage toclear the interviews for any of the consulting firms. To make matters worse, threedays into the placement and ten interviews later, I did not get placed in any job. I wason the verge of losing hope.

\n

However when you reach the tipping point towards hopelessness, somehow, anunseen force from another dimension always intervenes. On the fourth day ofplacements, a prestigious global multinational company came to our campusunscheduled. The company was intending to recruit for their Management Traineesprogramme. The programme trained future leaders and included rotation acrossvarious business lines and locations of the company. Since more than half of mybatchmates were already placed by the fourth day, I easily managed to get recruited. The Management Trainee profile had nothing to do with Management Consultingand to make matters worse it was mostly a Marketing job and different from myspecialisation Finance. However I put my heart and soul into the job, learned thetricks of the trade and in time, I started performing well. But this was short lived.September 15, 2008 is the day the Lehman Brothers collapsed. Little did I know thatthis would trigger a series of events that would ultimately result in me losing my first job. Nine months later, I was without a Job. At the time the Job market was dry andfor a guy like me with just an year of work experience, it was a nightmare finding ajob matching my profile.

It doesnt matter what you have learned, what matters is your willingness tolearn new things.

\n

\n

In my desperation, I took up a job in a BPO. As one of the top ranking students of myB School, it was a humbling experience for me to work night shifts and to do amundane outsourcing job. However I tried hard to love what I am doing so that I caneventually be good at it. In time, in this job too, I started performing well. But I neversettled in the job and never gave up my dream of being a management consultant.

\n

Today, eight years after losing my first job, I work in one of the leading ManagementConsulting firms in the world. There are many lessons I have learned in these eightyears. The most important one being the willingness to learn new things andkeeping on reinventing oneself.

\n

These lessons have been expressed by way of ten short stories in my book. Thebook revolves around three main characters, and through their eyes, I have tried tocommunicate the dilemmas a modern professional faces at work and more importantly, focusing on aspects that actually matter in life Family.
