Let me first start by saying I took quite a long time to finish reading this book. For the most part, it is because I have shifted to a new city and when you don’t have your mama helping you out every step of the way, life just shows you how hard it can be and how much you don’t realise mothers do for us every minute of every day. I mostly read this book during my train journeys to and fro office, and I got completely hooked to the story. I did try to sneak in a page or two during my lunch breaks but that was a futile effort to be honest. Khayaal Patel’s Tarikshir drew me in from the very first line. I got curious about the old woman who was introduced to us and had to wait with baited breath to find out the role she played in the story! Our young hero, Prince Rudra, seems idealist at best and I could understand his inner dilemma, even from the first time he is forced to abandon his mother’s wishes and follow his father’s commands! What it must have been like to be a young Rajput during a time the British were taking over the country – to be thrust between duties of being a Prince and being robbed off a normal life! What I particularly loved about the book were the battle scenes. I will be honest, I haven’t dabbled in books that are based on mythology before this. But the way Khayaal has narrated the battle scenes – I felt like everything was happening before my very eyes! And even though I have a soft spot for Rudra, my favourite character is Nafisa. The author has done a good job with this particular character, and as is indicated from the final pages from the book, this the start of a series. I am looking forward to knowing what happens next in our young hero, Rudra’s life. I am also extremely happy with the climax of the story…it managed to keep me hooked and filled with enough excitement and energy to pen a review at 2 am in the morning! If you want to know exactly who Tarikshir is and what role he plays in the story, you will have to pick up a copy of this book! Unfortunately I cannot reveal that information in this review – for the fear that I might completely spoil it! About the author:  Khayaal Patel is working on newer stories set in Rudra’s exciting universe, and when he is not, you can find him reading comic books, watching movies, trying to figure out the secrets of the universe and indulging in his incredibly unheakthy addiction to anything chocolate. This is his first novel. Author(s): Khayaal PatelPublisher: Westland BooksRelease: August 2018Genre: Fiction/FantasyBuy this book from Amazon – Please buy this book via affiliate links and show us some love! If you are a booklover and keep reading new books, share your book reviews with us and get featured, submit here.
